Things to Do & Useful Info AIRPORT BUSES SUPERMARKETS & SHOPPING EATING OUT LOCAL FOOD BARS EXCURSIONS GOLF FISHING BEACHES CAR HIRE OPENING TIMES TOILET CUSTOMS There is no public transport yet from the Paphos Airport but there are lots of Taxis. A taxi to Kings Palace is between £13 and £20 depending on the time of day and should take 10-15 minuets. There is a good network of busses. In the apartment I have left a current bus timetables for you to use. There are many supermarkets and 24 hour kiosks (small supermarkets stocking most essentials) near the apartment. The closest is a few yards to the right (as you leave the apartment complex) on the corner of the street or a few yards to the left of the apartment. There is a very reasonable (fair prices), 24 hour kiosk which sells everything you might ever need, it is 10 minute walk along the road to the left (as you leave the apartment) on a corner just after O'Neil's pub (and the set back shops). There are lots of touristy shops in Kato (lower) Paphos by the harbor, for more serious shopping you will need to go up to the Old Town or KTIMA. Here you will find shops from M&S to Next. There are hundreds of eating places around the apartment but here our my favourites, good value for money and quality of food. KARLINA - sells a good variety of food from traditional Greek
to spaghetti. Prices from £3.50 for a main course up to £9 for a steak in
pepper sauce (it is excellent). The portions are big and service excellent.
There is entertainment on most nights. It is just along the road to the left (as
you leave the apartment), it is on the left hand side of the road with a yellow florescent
sign and a big arrow on its roof. DEMOKRITOS - Traditional Greek Taverna with the staff doing traditional Greek dancing. Try the Meze, it is a large selection (20ish small courses) of traditional Greek/Cypriot dishes. Only served for 2 or more people for under £10. The restaurant is located on bar street in Kato Paphos, just up from the harbor. 1 Dionysos St, Paphos. Tel: 26933371 GRAZIE - Classy Italian restaurant but with reasonable prices. It is up by bar street and the food and service is excellent. Anastasia 5 & Theoskepastis Corner, Kato Paphos. Tel: 26818298 KOH-i-NOOR - A classy Tandoori restaurant, fair prices, great
service and good food. You will normally need to book in advance. Up from the harbor
on the coast road to the right, at the top of the hill turn left before
Pizza Pasta. 7 Kleios St, 8024 Kato Paphos. Tel: 26965544 or 99628742 OTHER GOOD RESTAURANTS IN THE SURROUNDING AREA

They are cheapest in the Summer from May to September at around £18 a round and in the winter go up to £23 per round. They are called SECRET VALLEY and TSADA. SECRET VALLEY
TSADA
There are 3 main dams around Paphos which you are allowed to
fish with a permit: Of course you could just fish in the sea but watch out for those rocks and snags. Happy hunting. BEACHES TO THE NORTH WEST (turn right as you leave the apartment complex): i) Drive along towards Coral Bay and after the Agios Georgious turning to the left take the next left down the side of Laura Hotel (opposite Pepperoni Pizza and Angelika on the right). Drive to the end of the road and there is a small beautiful sandy beach with sheltered water. 3Km ii) Drive along towards Coral Bay and when you get to the Queen Victoria restaurant on the left turn down towards it. Take the left hand fork in the road and you will find a sandy municipal beach with a life guard. Dangerous for swimming when rough, look out for the life guard's flags. 4Km iii) Drive along towards Coral Bay and when you get to the Vadas Beach Hotel turn left down the side of it. You will come to the Vadas Restaurant, park and go through the passage in the middle of the restaurants and you will find a very beautiful small sandy beach with very sheltered and fairly shallow swimming. There is also a cafe and toilets which you can use. 6Km iv) Coral Bay is a large sand beach which has some facilities (growing all the time). Fairly sheltered water. You do tend to get a lot of seaweed in the sea. Drive out to the right of the apartment and you will see it well sign posted. You have to turn left at some lights and go along that road until you go into the country, there are three car parks on the left, the beach is down the back of the car parks. 8Km v) Laura Bay/Beach is 25Km away but well worth a visit. It is a very large, sheltered beach. Head towards Coral Bay but do not turn left at the lights, carry on straight (in fact travel straight all the way from the apartment) and you will eventually end up on a dirt track. Keep following it to a restaurant and the beach is just a bit further on. It is also the home of the Turtle Project and as such the beach is closed during breading season. 25Km BEACHES TO THE EAST (turn left as you leave the apartment complex): i) The Municipal beach can be found on the right after all the rows of shops, bars and pubs. It is just before you get to the Roman Hotel on the right (you won't miss it). It is signposted and you go down a short dirt track to a car park. Very large sand beach with cafe and lifeguard. For the next 4 beach you will have to do the following first: Drive to the harbor (turn right out of the apartments and carry on to the first set of traffic lights, turn left, you will end up at the harbor), when you just get to it turn left along the coast. Keep following this road until you are forced to turn left at 45 degrees, this is a large triangular traffic island (full of pubs etc), turn right down the other side of it when you get a chance and then turn left at the bottom of that short road - in other words try and keep to the coast and do not drive too far inland). You will start going passed big hotels on the right, these are where the beaches are and you can get to them from the dirt roads on wasteland down the side of them. All these beaches do join up this and it is a pleasant walk along the coast. The list below is in the order of the best first not the nearest first. ii) Carry on along that road until you get to Atlantida Fish Restaurant (white building on the right at the left hand bend of the road), it has entrance gates, just park in the car park and the beach is behind it. Cafe, sand beach with sheltered swimming. Excellent. iii) Follow the long directions above. You will come to the Ledra Beach Hotel and Cyprus Maris Hotel. The beach is behind them but joins the two together. Sheltered swimming, good facilities and shade under trees. The signs say how many visitors beds there are available, but don't worry about these as I have never been turned away they want your trade. iv) Follow the long directions above. You will come to the Pioneer Hotel and Paphian Bay Hotel. Behind them is a sheltered bay with gently sloping beach into the water. There are water sports for hire and a cafe. The signs say how many visitors beds there are, don't worry about these as I have never been turned away they want your trade. v) Follow the long directions above. You will come to the Riu Cypria Bay Hotel. Behind it there is an average beach with water sports for hire. For a total change there is the Aphroditi Paphos Water Park. The turning for this is opposite the last four beach/hotels. So, follow the long directions above. You will come to the big Hotels on the right, the turning for the water park is on the left. There are literally hundreds of car
hire places. Prices vary from £9 to £50 a day. The price they quote you will
be without VAT and insurance so be prepared to haggle (they are competing with
lots of competitors). During the week most businesses (except tourist ones) close at 1pm or 1.30pm till around 3pm. At the weekend they close for the day at 1pm. Banks are only open till 1pm or 1.30pm each day. Most restaurants are not connected to mains drains so as such you must place your toilet paper in a small bin to the side of the toilet (you do get used to this). This apartment at Kings Palace IS connected to the mains thankfully. Please enjoy your stay and love Paphos and surrounding area for it's beauty and sun.
